New Book Looks at Changing World of Children's IllustrationA new book, scheduled for release on October 4, 2007, examines the emerging trends in the field of children's illustration, and discusses both digital and traditional media by artists who are increasingly from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
The book, Play Pen: New Children's Book Illustration, is by Martin Salisbury, a lecturer in illustration, a freelance illustrator, and the author of Illustrating Children's Books. The book promises to be an interesting look at how children's illustration is being affected by the merging of artists who create cartoons, animated movies, comics, TV, and computer games into it's once "traditional" world.
